Indicolite, Smoky quartz
South America
A very three-dimensional and showy specimen of rich blue-green tourmaline flaring off of crystallized, slightly smoky, doubly terminated quartz crystal.A very three-dimensional and showy specimen of rich blue-green tourmaline flaring off of crystallized, slightly smoky, doubly terminated quartz crystal. The largest tourmaline measures 2.9 cm long, but there are a few aspects to these crystals that make them so enticing. The rich color and fine gem quality of the crystals is impressive for tourmaline from any world locality, but that's not all. Some of these tourmaline crystals are amazingly "hollow" inside where all the remains in the outer rind and the inner core of the crystals are complete absent.
