This is a very striking specimen of a nail head calcite coated with amethyst and yellow calcite from Artigas, Uruguay.This is a very striking specimen of a nail head calcite coated with amethyst and yellow calcite from Artigas, Uruguay. A stunning single, sharp, pristine calcite sample coated with amethyst. The contrast is striking. Both are common minerals, but the association and stark display qualities of this hand-sized piece make it stand out from the crowd. I thought it was, frankly, one of the best Uruguayan calcites/amethyst I have yet seen and kept it. No damage. Set on its custom display base, it is a very impressive piece, and literally radiates color in a case.
